RED-DY ON RED DAY!

Our adorable little ones of the International Kindergarten celebrated their colour of the month ‘Red’ today! With red rhymes, impressive dances, frilly red frocks and rouge shirts, the kindergarteners made the day a memorable one…

While students of IK 3 celebrated ‘red’ by jumping to the tune of ‘Let’s Star Jump’ by Debbie Doo, the cuties of IK 2 moved to the famous ‘I Like to Move it’ from Madagascar. Not the ones to be left far behind, the newest members of the IK family, Grade IK 1 put on quite a show with ‘The Apple Song’.

With Clifford the Red Dog, Lady Bugs and 3D Strawberries crafted as take-aways, the children are sure to take home more than just memories!

BRINGING OBJECTS TO LIFE!

The residential students of Grades VIII and IX, tried their hand at a new and out-of-the-box form of collaborative writing in a session held for them this Sunday. Our students were encouraged to collaboratively imagine and write text conversations between inanimate objects in a fun spin to the routine creative writing exercises…

From wildly imaginative conversations between pencils and erasers, clocks and curtains, puppets and glasses, the students had to let their creative juices run to let the character sketches for these inanimate objects become visible in their writing. The tech element and the unheard of format of textual writing only added to the challenge!

Pursuing Passion

The club-meet held yesterday afternoon had a variety of activities to pique the interests of our students. While the Performing Arts Club encouraged students to explore the genre of hip-hop, the Cuisine Club was putting together a ‘minty beans salad’ and delicious coconut laddoos.

Meanwhile, the DRSIS Community & Humane club crafted decoratives for a noble cause and the Eco-sustainability Club chose to make neem leaf adorned posters for the promotion of ecological awareness.

Multi-purpose, wall-mountable holders were made by the creative students of the Visual Arts Club. The Literary Club had students experiment with ‘Chain Fairy Tales’, a unique collaborative-writing method. 

The MUN Club’s meeting saw experienced students share their learning from previous MUNs and explain the rules of procedure. Without doubt, all the of the activities were carefully designed to provoke and inspire!

CELEBRATING THE SPIRIT OF SACRIFICE!

Our IB PYP Wing celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr together, a few days early, in anticipation of the coming festivities. The assembly had a beautiful message of secularism and inclusivity, with students sharing that celebrating Eid is open to members of any faith.

The assembly also reflected deeply on the spirit of sacrifice of those who are fasting from dawn to dusk during Ramadan, and how doing away with pleasures took determination and perseverance. The recitation of verses from the Quran by Abdur & Ishaq of IK 3 and a special dance by the primary students, who had dressed up especially for the occasion, made the assembly more memorable!

SPELL IT RIGHT!

The PYP Wing was a hive for wordsmiths today, with the Inter-House Spell Bee competition drawing all the attention! Meticulously organized, aptly named rounds such as ‘Misspelled Words’, ‘Dictionary Order’, ‘Pronounciation’ and ‘Find the Word’ made for a lot of food for thought.

While some of the words asked were tricky enough to get the adults present thinking, DRS International’s unique ‘Password’ system in every classroom has made spelling words an easy game for our students. Despite the challenge, our students impressed the audience with their quick thinking and their ability to string letters together accurately.

The biggest highlight, however, was the way each of our students collaborated with their house-mates to put their heads together, think hard, spell right and make their house proud!

QUIZ KIDS!

The Inter-house Quiz Competition held for Grades VI-VIII yesterday, was an exciting one! The familiar yet tricky questions posed to the participants ensured that everyone had their thinking caps on…

The quiz had a wide variety of well-thought out rounds such as ‘Current Affairs’, ‘Bowled Out’ (Sports), ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ (Music), ‘Abdul Kalam’ (Science) and ‘Cinematic’ (Movies) etc, ensuring that the students were tested on a range of trivia domains.

A lively and participant audience made the quiz a more engaging experience for all involved. All though some of the trickier questions were real head-scratchers, it was apparent to all that our student participants were not just well-informed and well-read, but also worldly-wise!
