Exploring the forest.

The students of Grade VIII went on a field trip to Telangana Forest Academy was one which gave the students an insight into the role of nature in student lives. Three activities were lined up by the Star NGO in collaboration with the forest academy-Forest trail, herbal garden visit, paper bag making.
Students were taken on a forest trail. On their way, they came across a variety of trees. The utility value of each of them was clearly explained. Students could relate the uses of those trees in real time situations. Students could spot vivid differences between environments of busy cities from that of the forests. Billudu, teak, rosewood, sandalwood, Rela, Chirumanu, Chilla,Musti, Uduga, Chenangi were few trees which were identified in the forest.
They were also taken to the herbal garden where various herbs of high medicinal value were shown to the students. Ashwagandha, tulasi ,to name a few were few of the medicinal herbs. The paper bag making activity was an interesting one and the students made them with great zeal.
We were lucky enough to meet Ms. Sangeetha, Assistant Conservator of Forests. She gave an inspirational talk to our students on creating a forest around our homes, by planting more trees.
In nutshell, the students had a good time with good learning in the lap of nature.
