Residential Workshop on ‘Photo Essays and Perspectives’
6 students of the residential wing, Sri Nidhi, Lydia, Veeresh, Niraj, Havgesh and Arun got the opportunity to learn more about what makes a great photo essay. Elements such as depth, framing, texture, symmetry, the interplay between light and shadow etc that help give make photographs more visually interesting were discussed at length. The highlight of the discussion was the need to take interesting, out of the ordinary pictures with original choices of subjects.
In the second half of the session, the students got the opportunity to use these perspectives to create their individual photo essays. The experience was paradigm shifting as they had to look at the everyday, familiar setting of their school in new and refreshing ways. While some of the photo essays had stories to tell, others delved deep into abstract themes and points of view.
