“The child
is made of one hundred.
The child has
a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking.”
-Loris Malaguzzi
The love of life-long learning is an essential quality of every member of the DRSIS community. The first in a series of professional development sessions this year for our team of IK teachers, the session focused on fine-tuning approaches to the early years. The session helped facilitators reflect on enabling and encouraging teaching habits, and through a virtual walk-through helped them identify the areas of the school day they could better refine and enhance through changing their approach. One part of the session helped the facilitators put themselves in their students shoes through the ‘Step-Inside’ thinking routine. The facilitators were also introduced to the PYP- endorsed Reggio Emilia approach through the poem ‘A Hundred Languages’. The session concluded with the teachers identifying areas they wanted to learn more about.
