Making Headlines!

What happens when a group of creative young children come face to face with a black and white newspaper? Magic, of course! The residential students of Grades IV, V and VI enjoyed a session called ‘Newsmakers’ this Sunday.

While it is easy for children to lose touch with the print media in the digital age, our students had a great time scouring the pages of the newspapers for interesting headlines which they then mixed and matched to create some bizarre news reports that made for some great laughs! The exercise introduced our students to the basics of news and report writing in a fun and accessible way.

The session ended with students reading out the news reports they had created in their best ‘news anchor’ voices.
